The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Columbia Plateau Conservation Research Center, Pendleton, Oregon, invites applications for a Headquarters-funded POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (Research Microbiologist), for a two year appointment (GS-11, $58,562 per annum).  

 

A recent Ph.D. is required. Only U.S. citizens and certain permanent residents are eligible.  The postdoctoral fellow will determine the soil microbiological basis for rotational benefits to wheat following brassica oilseeds in dryland crop production systems. The project will rely on molecular methods, soil enzyme analyses, microscopy, planting experiments and determination of soil physical and chemical characteristics.  The incumbent will develop hypotheses based on current literature, design and conduct experiments, perform in work in the laboratory and in the field, analyze data, and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals.
