A post-doctoral scholar position in microbial bioinformatics is available in the Department of Microbiology, Oregon State University.  This position is part of the interdisciplinary BIOSSCOPE team supported by Simons Foundation International to explore microbial interactions with dissolved organic matter in the Western Sargasso Sea. We are looking for scientists with experience and a record of publications in some combination of the following:  microbial genomics, microbial evolution, metagenomics, proteomics, biochemistry, and environmental chemistry.  Potential projects include analyses of genomic and metagenomic data, mass spectrometry/metabolomics and cell culturing aimed at understanding microbial interactions with other cells and organic matter in the oceans. Successful applicants will be expected to participate in oceanographic cruises and travel to Bermuda for research with a collaborative scientific team.
